Neonatal

A neonate is the word usually applied to new born babies or infants within the first weeks of life. Neonatal patients are some of the most vulnerable patient groups, with one of the most common complications being breathing problems.
Jaundice is also a common medical condition for newborn babies, with as much as 60% of newborn babies and 80% of premature born babies being affected by jaundice. Jaundice normally present itself 2-4 days after the birth, and in most cases does not need to be treated. However, if the concentration of bilirubin in the blood is too high, there is sometimes need for special treatment with special light therapy: phototherapy.
